Expression of cluUAS.Tag:MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR leads to mitochondrial morphology defects in larval muscles as well as adult indirect flight muscles: small, fragmented mitochondria (as compared to wild-type).

Co-expression of cluUAS.Tag:MYC alleviates the swollen mitochondria phenotype observed in adult indirect flight muscles of flies expressing Drp1JF02762 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR. In contrast, the mitochondrial fragmentation induced by expression of MarfGD11094 appears to be further enhanced by co-expression of cluUAS.Tag:MYC.
The mitochondrial morphology defects in larval muscles, larval locomotion deficit and failure to produce viable adults observed upon Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR-driven expression of TER94GD9777 cannot be significantly rescued by co-expression of cluUAS.Tag:MYC. On the other hand, the abnormal swollen mitochondria phenotype observed in indirect flight muscles of adult flies expressing TER94R152H.UAS.cRa (with Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR) is suppressed by co-expression of cluUAS.Tag:MYC.
The abnormal mitochondrial morphology - clustered, rounded mitochondria - observed in muscles 6 and 7 of cluΔW/clud08713 mutant larvae can be rescued to wild-type appearance by Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR-driven expression of cluUAS.Tag:MYC (which on its own also induces defects in mitochondrial morphology).
