Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

hrmΔ1 homozygous adults do not exhibit any obvious exterior morphological defects.

The majority of hrmΔ1 homozygous and hrmΔ1/Df(2R)BSC696 transheterozygous animals exhibit a persistent salivary gland tissue, particularly cell fragments, 24h after puparium formation, i.e. 8hr after the time when this tissue is usually cleared in control individuals; 13.5h after puparium formation, hrmΔ1/Df(2R)BSC696 transheterozygous salivary glands show a significant decrease in autophagy (i.e. increase in Atg8-positive puncta and converse decrease in Ref(2)p/p62 puncta) and a significant increase in lipid droplet size, but do not show any significant changes in apoptosis (caspase-positive puncta) or in lipid droplet number, as compared to controls.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The salivary gland tissue persistence phenotype observed in hrmΔ1/Df(2R)BSC696 transheterozygous pupae is not affected by Atg13Δ74 homozygosity; hrmΔ1 heterozygotes with additional Atg13Δ74 homozygosity show a salivary gland tissue persistence phenotype.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The salivary gland tissue persistence phenotype observed in hrmΔ1/Df(2R)BSC696 transheterozygous pupae is enhanced by the expression of BacA\p35UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4fkh.PH salivary gland tissue, leading to more intact gland fragments 24h after puparium formation; hrmΔ1 heterozygotes with additional expression of BacA\p35UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4fkh.PH show a salivary gland tissue persistence phenotype.

Complementation and Rescue Data
Comments

The expression of hrmUAS.cVa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB, in the absence of heat-shock, suppresses the salivary gland persistence defects observed in hrmΔ1 homozygotes.
