Gene Summary
Phosphotidylinositol 3 kinase 59F (Pi3K59F) encodes a lipid kinase that is required for formation of Phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate. It functions in a core protein complex that includes the products of Atg6 and Vps15. It is involved in the control of vesicle trafficking, including autophagy, endocytosis and phagocytosis. Gene Group (FlyBase)
AUTOPHAGY-SPECIFIC PHOSPHATIDYLINOSITOL 3-KINASE COMPLEX -
The autophagy-specific phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase complex generates PI3-phosphate (PI3P) at the PAS (phagophore assembly site/preautophagosomal structure). (Adapted from FBrf0219844 and PMID:23999079).
PHOSPHATIDYLINOSITOL 3 KINASES -
Phosphatidylinositol 3 kinases catalyze the phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol (PI), or specific mono or bisphosphate derivatives of PI, at position 3 on the inositol ring to generate PI3P, PI(3,4)P[[2]] or PI(3,4,5)P[[3]]. The resulting phosphoinositides can act as signalling molecules to mediate/regulate a range of cellular and physiological processes, including cell polarity, cell migration, autophagy, growth, development, and ageing. (Adapted from FBrf0227909.)
Summary (Interactive Fly)

regulates intracellular vesicular transport of proteins at distinct membrane domains through production of phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate - interacts with Rabenosyn-5 which carries out a subset of Pi3K59 functions - promotes autophagy and endocytosis

Structure
Protein 3D structure   (Predicted by AlphaFold)   (AlphaFold entry Q9W1M7)

If you don't see a structure in the viewer, refresh your browser.
Model Confidence:
  • Very high (pLDDT > 90)
  • Confident (90 > pLDDT > 70)
  • Low (70 > pLDDT > 50)
  • Very low (pLDDT < 50)

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.
