mCer3 is a monomeric cyan fluorescent protein with an excitation peak of 433nm and an emission peak of 475nm in vitro. It is an artificial derivative of the naturally occurring fluorescent protein encoded by the Aequorea victoria GFP gene (UniProtKB:P42212), derived by mutagenesis of mCer, and is characterized by increased brightness and photostability. It contains the mutations T65S, S147H, D148G, K166G, I167L, R168N and H169C relative to mCer (PMID:21479270).
