A set of ~800 largely isogenic deficiency stocks created by FLP-induced recombination between FRT-carrying transgenic insertions; molecularly defined deletion endpoints correspond to initial location of the progenitor insertions. Designed to fill gaps in deletion coverage and breakpoint placement; also used to replace older available deficiencies that have not been molecularly mapped.

Breakpoint based on progenitor insertion release 3 sequence coordinate 2R:19035692 , per R. Hoskins (Gene Disruption Project) personal communication, mapped forward to release 5.
Breakpoint from FlyBase's release 5 sequence location of progenitor insertion.
As in wild type, Df(2R)BSC601 mutant flies do not exhibit paralysis in response to heat shock. However they do exhibit a decrease in heart rate, smaller end diastolic dimensions and a preserved systolic function.
The presence of P+PBac{XP5.WH5}BSC601 was verified using the PCR methods and primers described in FBrf0175003.
The Gene Disruption project determined the insertion site of P{XP}d11424 to be Release 3 genomic coordinate 19035692 on arm 2R. This corresponds to 60B1 on the Release 3 and Release 5 genome maps. The predicted position of PBac{WH}Nap1f06242 on the Release 5 map is 60A9. Consequently, the cytological breakpoints of Df(2R)BSC601 are predicted to be 60A9;60B1.
