Photoreceptor nuclei fail to migrate apically and are positioned randomly within the apical-basal axis in Lam04643 mutant eye discs.

Lam04643 homozygous and heterozygous mutants exhibit lower pupariation height, indicative of reduced larval locomotion and negative gravitaxis.

Lam04643 mutant adult escapers do not exhibit great changes in muscle bulk, placement, or organisation. Muscle 5 in the larval abdominal body wall is often absent or slightly reduced in size and mis-inserted. In addition, fine structure defects in fibrillar organisation are also found in LamG262 larvae that are never observed in age-matched control larvae.

nuclear membrane | somatic clone | cell autonomous Abnormal clustering of nucleoporins is observed in the nuclear envelope of Lam04643 mosaic imaginal disc clones in a cell-autonomous manner. This clustering occurs in clones that have low levels of LamC protein.

Lam04643 heterozygous third instar larvae containing a homozygous eye disc (generated by mitotic recombination using the "EGUF/hid method") are recovered. In the homozygous eye disc the nuclei of R-cells are spread throughout the apical/basal axis of the disc, instead of being exclusively apical, as in wild type.

20% of homozygous embryos show misguided and stalled terminal tracheal branches at 25oC. The cytoplasmic projections of the terminal cells do not extend normally; 9% of terminal cells form multiple cytoplasmic blebs, or thin spindle processes that grow in inappropriate directions or stop short before reaching their targets. 2% of terminal cells show defects in nuclear morphology, such as a spherical nucleus protruding off the main axis of the cell. At 29oC, only 16% of dorsal terminal branches are normal. Females containing homozygous germline clones show occasional egg chambers with oocyte differentiation defects (containing 2 small and 14 large nuclei) and nuclear morphology defects. Egg production is greatly reduced in these females and 86% of eggs are dorsalised; 55% have expanded dorsal appendages, 18% have a single fused or circumferential dorsal appendage, 9% have multiple dorsal appendages and 4% have no dorsal appendage.
