The m8 form of if (lacking exon 8) is expressed under the control of UASt regulatory sequences.

UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of cDNA sequences encoding the if 'm8' splice variant.

Adult wings of ifm8.Scer\UAS-expressing flies (under the control of Scer\GAL4684) exhibit a significant number of cells that fail to delaminate.

Animals expressing ifm8.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4337Y usually have wing blisters at 25o.

Scer\GAL4684 induced expression of ifm8.Scer\UAS is temperature sensitive, the penetrance and expressivity of the blister phenotype increases with temperature. Temperature shift experiments reveal the critical period for the generation of wing blisters by overexpression of integrin is at about the time the dorsal and ventral wing epithelia first become apposed. By the time re-apposition is occurring in the pupal period the wing is relatively insensitive to overexpression.

The wing blistering caused by expression of ifm8.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4337Y is suppressed by msk1/+, msk2/+, msk4/+, msk5/+ or cswEsev1A-eOP/+.

mew498 clones in the eye disrupt photoreceptor organisation. Scer\GAL4hs.PB-mediated expression of ifm8.Scer\UAS allows some rescue of the phenotype.

Partially rescues the first instar lethality of mewM6 homozygotes when expressed using Scer\GAL448Y, although the animals do not survive past the second larval instar stage.

The lethality caused by ifk27e can be rescued by Scer\GAL4how-24B mediated expression of one copy of a copy of both P{UAS-if.C} and P{UAS-if.m8} or two copies of P{UAS-if.m8}. Expression of one copy of P{UAS-if.m8} fails to rescue lethality, embryos die during development and fail to emerge from the egg cases. These embryos exhibit a muscle phenotype.
