    dos1.46/dos2.42 mutant flies give rise to 33% of the expected number of pupae.

    dos1.46 mutant clones rarely contain photoreceptors and are composed of very few cells.

    Heterozygotes exhibit no eye abnormalities. Mitotic clones in the eye are identical to lack of csw function, cells can proliferate but do not differentiate as photoreceptors.

    The rough eye phenotype seen in cswCS.hs.2sev flies is enhanced by the addition of dos1.46. The addition of doshs.2sev.cHa or dosYY.hs.2sev to cswCS.hs.2sev/dos1.46 flies strongly suppresses this phenotype. The addition of dosY854F.hs.2sev, dosY801F.hs.2sev.cHa, or dosY810F.Y854F.hs.2sev leads to markedly enhanced eye roughness.

    Expression of Zzzz\cagAScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB suppresses the lethality seen in dos1.46/dos2.42 mutants. 89% of the expected number of pupae are seen, compared to only 33% in homozygous dos1.46 mutants.

    Expression of Zzzz\cagAScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF increases dos1.46 mutant clone size in the eye. The clones are much larger and contain increased numbers of photoreceptors.
