Expression of Zzzz\cagAScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in disorganisation of the retinal epithelium. The normal crystalline structure of the ommatidium is disturbed and normal cell shapes and neighbour relationships are perturbed. The phenotype is dosage-dependent, appearing more severe in flies expressing two copies of Zzzz\cagAScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 compared to one copy.

Expression of Zzzz\cagAScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB suppresses the lethality seen in dos1.46/dos2.42 mutants. 89% of the expected number of pupae are seen, compared to only 33% in homozygous dos1.46 mutants.
Expression of Zzzz\cagAScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF increases dos1.46 mutant clone size in the eye. The clones are much larger and contain increased numbers of photoreceptors.
Expression of Zzzz\cagAScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of either Scer\GAL4GMR.PF or Scer\GAL4hs.PB does not significantly increase the number of photoreceptors seen in csw13-87 mutant larval eye discs.
