Clonal expression of vapUAS.Tag:MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU in the larval fat body prevents the starvation-induced formation of lysosomes (LysoTracker) and autophagosomes ( GFP:Atg8a ) observed in controls; in well fed individuals, the clonal cells are slightly but significantly larger than in controls.

The sensitivity of vapKS67 homozygous adults to acute food deprivation is fully rescued by the expression of vapUAS.Tag:MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU, even leading to resistance to food deprivation, as compared to controls.

Expression of vapScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH or Scer\GAL4GMR.PF does not cause a detectable phenotype. Expression of vapScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev does not affect photoreceptor function. Expression of vapScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in wings which are smaller than normal and have an upward curvature. The number of hairs on the dorsal margin of the wing between veins L3 and L4 is reduced compared to wild type, while the cell diameter along the wing margin is unaffected. The longitudinal wing veins are not disrupted.
