Expression of a weakly expressing line of nkd^{Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC} under the control of Scer\GAL4^B119 results in a teardrop-shaped ventral eye and causes loss and lateral displacement of sternite bristles in the ventral abdomen. Expression of a more strongly expressing line of nkd^{Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC} under the control of Scer\GAL4^B119 results in ventral eye reduction and almost complete loss of sternite bristles in the ventral abdomen.

In nkd^{Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC}; Scer\GAL4^ap-md544 wing discs the dorsal compartment is reduced in size compared to the ventral compartment. These flies survive to adulthood and have wings with a reduced dorsal surface, which curls upwards.

nkd^{Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC} when driven by Scer\GAL4^GMR.PF has no visible effect on eye development.

Expression of nkd^{Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC} when driven by Scer\GAL4^hs.PB 24 h after puparium formation (APF) produces adult flies with wing hair polarity defects that are indistinguishable from those seen in dsh¹ mutant adults.
