Individuals expressing PGRP-LEUAS.Tag:FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4He.PZ present a significantly decreased bacterial load upon infection with the non-pathogenic E. coli, as compared to equally infected controls.

Isolated circulating naive macrophages from larvae expressing PGRP-LEUAS.Tag:FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4He.PZ show increased internalization of E.coli bacteria upon infection, as compared to equally infected controls.

Expression of PGRP-LEScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 increases the survival rate of flies which are susceptible to L. monocytogenes.

Scer\GAL4NP2610-3-1-mediated expression of PGRP-LEScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG does not induce significant changes in the epithelial structure of the larval trachea.

Expression of PGRP-LEScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG driven by Scer\GAL4S106-GS dramatically increases the survival of both females and males following infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa in both young and old animals. Enhanced resistance to other pathogenic strains of bacteria, including Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus aureus is statistically significant but lesser in magnitude.

Acute overexpression of PGRP-LEScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG driven by Scer\GAL4S106-GS does not adversely affect normal behaviours, as evidenced by normal patterns of negative geotaxis, heat tolerance, or reproductive output for up to one week following induction of transgene expression. In contrast, chronic activation of PGRP-LEScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG driven by Scer\GAL4S106-GS throughout the adult stage of flies results in significantly shorter lifespan in both males and females compared to controls.

When a weak expressing PGRP-LEScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG insertion line is driven by Scer\GAL4hs.PB in the absence of heat shock, the flies exhibit a cuticle defect at the midline of the dorsal abdomen. A strong expressing leads to lethality. When PGRP-LEScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG is driven by Scer\GAL4c564 melanisation can been seen in larval cuticle.

Simultaneous expression of Tak1K46R.M.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4S106-GS significantly suppresses the increased pathogen resistance phenotype of PGRP-LEScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG-expressing flies.

Simultaneous expression of BG4dsRNA.Scer\UAS driven by Scer\GAL4S106-GS significantly suppresses the increased pathogen resistance phenotype of PGRP-LEScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG-expressing flies.

The enhanced pathogen resistance phenotype of flies expressing PGRP-LEScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG driven by Scer\GAL4S106-GS is completely suppressed by homozygous RelE20 but not by RelE23.
