Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Mutant adult males show a characteristic misrotation of genitalia and are sterile. The extent of genital rotation varies from about 30o to 320o (the genital plate undergoes a stereotyped 360o clockwise rotation during metamorphosis in wild-type males) with 84% of males having their genital plate in a position corresponding to a rotation of 135-225o. The males show a clear under-rotation phenotype when looping of the spermiduct is analysed. The overall morphology of the corpora allata synapse in the ring gland is abnormal in mutant larvae, showing fused terminal boutons and a reduced number of presynaptic nerve terminals.
