In Ada2b1 larvae, many R2-R5 axons fail to terminate in the lamina and instead project into the medulla. A reduced number of glial cells are present along the lamina compared to wild type and slight increases in the number of glial cells are present at the margins of the lamina regions.
Homozygotes die during early pupal stages, mostly before head eversion occurs, without any other gross morphological abnormalities. No eggs are obtained from females containing homozygous germline clones.
