Expression of Hip1Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of either Scer\GAL4ap-md544 or Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in a decrease in density of microchaetae throughout the dorsal notum. There is no effect on gross bristle morphology or on the number or position of macrochaetae.

Expression of Hip1Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 enhances the abnormal microchaetae density phenotype seen on the notum of NMcd1 flies.

Expression of Hip1Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 has no effect on the increased density of microchaetae on the notum seen in E(spl)1/+ flies.

The decreased density of microchaetae on the notum caused by expression of Hip1Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 is not suppressed by ac4/+ but is suppressed by ac4/Y.
