The severity of the eye defects caused by expression of elflessScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is increased if the flies are also heterozygous for effunspecified; the eyes show almost complete pigment loss and severe defects in the interommatidial bristles and in the shape and size of the eye.

The severity of the eye defects caused by expression of elflessScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is decreased if the flies are also heterozygous for NcI24; the eyes show less severe pigmentation and morphological defects.
