    GabatPL00338/GabatPL00338 males show significant increases in both day and night time sleep, with a increase in the fraction of sleep spent in long (>150min) sleep episodes and a significant decrease in sleep bout number at night (as well as a significant increase in the number of bouts during the day) compared to controls. Mutant flies show a significant decrease in sleep latency compared to controls. Activity per waking minute is similar to controls in mutants. Mutants generally show normal circadian rhythms, compared to wild type.

    Gabatf01602/Gabatf01602 mutant adult males display severely reduced survival as compared to wild-type when reared on a sucrose only diet, but similar survival rates to wild type when reared on regular food.

    Gabatf01602/Gabatf01602 partially suppresses sleep phenotypes seen in qvrEY04063/qvrEY04063 flies; in addition, double mutants show an increase in the fraction of long sleep episodes and reductions in nighttime sleep bout numbers (similar to Gabatf01602/Gabatf01602 single mutants).

    Expression of GabatScer\UAS.T:SV5\V5,T:Zzzz\His6 driven by Scer\GAL4Gabat-PL00338 or Scer\GAL4repo.PU (but not Scer\GAL4Gad1.3.098) in a qvrEY04063/qvrEY04063;Gabatf01602/Gabatf01602 double mutant background diminishes sleep to around 35% (sleep is also more fragmented and sleep latency increases, whereas sleep bout number is unchanged) of qvrEY04063/qvrEY04063;Gabatf01602/Gabatf01602 (partial rescue).
