Germaria are filled with single cells dividing away from the niche in random orientations in females expressing tkvact.Scer\UAS.P\T under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16.

Expression of tkvQ199D.Scer\UAS.P\T under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 results in the overproliferation of germline stem cell-like cells in the ovary.

Females in which expression of tkvQ199D.Scer\UAS.P\T under the control of Scer\GAL4bab1-Gal4 has been restricted to the adult stage using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B (animals are shifted to the restrictive temperature of 31[o]C when adult) do not show a germline stem cell tumour phenotype in the ovary after 3 days of tkvQ199D.Scer\UAS.P\T expression.
