UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat of gce sequence, which consists of a genomic fragment spanning part of exon 6 and intron 6 followed by the corresponding cDNA fragment in reverse orientation.

      Animals expressing gcedsRNA.Scer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI show reasonable survival rates to adulthood, but most adults die within 2-3 days following eclosion.

      Animals expressing gcedsRNA.Scer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU do not survive to adulthood, dying as mid-to-late stage larvae or, more commonly, as pharate adults.
