UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of a 3.4kb lncRNA:roX1 cDNA.
The presence of roX1Scer\UAS.cKa (without a Scer\GAL4 driver) fails to rescue the viability found in roX1MB710 Df(1)52 double mutant males. When the polytene chromosomes of these dying males are examined, the X chromosome exhibits collapsed morphology and very low levels of bound MSL proteins. However, the autosomal region around the transgene insertion site (within 1-2Mbp) is heavily coated with MSL complex in all nuclei.
Expression of roX1Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU dramatically increases male viability.
Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU/lncRNA:roX1UAS.cKa fails to rescue Df(1)52/lncRNA:roX1MB710
