Flies expressing P{UAS-mir-310.cluster.DsRed} (which consists of the mir-310Scer\UAS.cluster, mir-311Scer\UAS.cluster, mir-312Scer\UAS.cluster and mir-313Scer\UAS.cluster alleles) under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU and limited to 16 hours of development onwards using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B exhibit increased sensitivity to nicotine.

Expression of P{UAS-mir-310.cluster.DsRed} (which consists of the mir-310Scer\UAS.cluster, mir-311Scer\UAS.cluster, mir-312Scer\UAS.cluster and mir-313Scer\UAS.cluster alleles) under the control of Scer\GAL4L4 enhances the cuticle phenotype seen in esgL4 mutant flies, with 100% of the resulting flies having phenotype compared to 8% in esgL4/+. Only 14% of the flies are viable compared with 100% in esgL4/+. The increased nicotine sensitivity is also enhanced.

Expression of esgEU143 partially suppresses the semi-lethality seen when P{UAS-mir-310.cluster.DsRed} (which consists of the mir-310Scer\UAS.cluster, mir-311Scer\UAS.cluster, mir-312Scer\UAS.cluster and mir-313Scer\UAS.cluster alleles) is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4L4.
