Expression of NNIG.3936R in randomly induced clones, in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the two weeks of adulthood prior to analysis, leads to the formation of intestinal stem cell-like tumors in the posterior midgut.

Expression of NNIG.3936R under the control of Scer\GAL4MD-638 causes the thickening of the wing veins and the elimination of the wing margin.

Expression of NNIG.3936R under the control of either Scer\GAL4C855a or Scer\GAL4c768 results in the disappearance of neuroepithelial cells in the outer proliferation center of the optic lobe during early to mid-third larval instar, premature formation of medulla neuroblasts and premature neurogenesis in the medulla. Late third instar larvae show complete loss of the lamina and have a smaller than normal medulla cortex. The eye imaginal disc, central brain and ventral nerve cord appear normal in these larvae.

Expression of NNIG.3936R under the control of either Scer\GAL41407 or Scer\GAL4elav-C155 does not cause any defects in the development of the optic lobe, central brain and ventral nerve cord.

Expression of NNIG.3936R under the control of Scer\GAL41407 in the larval optic lobe does not affect medulla neuroblast formation or their self-renewing ability.
