Detailed Description
Statement

The expression of tsrdsRNA.UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4en.PU leads to a significant decrease in the proportion of cells in S-phase (BrdU-positive cells), but not in mitosis (phospho-H3 immunofluorescence), within the posterior compartment of the third instar wing disc cells, as compared to controls; this expression also leads to an obvious increase in apoptosis (both TUNEL assays and MMP1 immunofluorescence) within the compartment, as compared to controls.

The expression under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc.PU leads to the dispersion of the expression cells, resulting in irregular edges along the ptc-expressing domain, as well as in many cells detached from the domain, and leads to frequent basal extrusion, as compared to controls; this expression also leads to an obvious increase in apoptosis (Casp3 immunofluorescence), but not in mitosis (phospho-H3 immunofluorescence), within the ptc-domain, as compared to controls. The resulting adult wing exhibits tissue reduction in the ptc domain between veins 3 and 4, associated with a disrupted local wing cell pattern, as compared to controls.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The increased apoptosis and cell dispersion within the ptc-domain of the third instar larval wing disc induced by the expression of tsrdsRNA.UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc.PU are not suppressed by the co-expression of msnHMJ02084.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The dispersion of cells from the ptc-expressing domain of the third instar larval wing disc induced by the expression of tsrdsRNA.UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc.PU is enhanced by the co-expression of BacA\p35UAS.cUa, even leading to the enlargement of the ptc-domain stripe.

The co-expression of tsrdsRNA.UAS and BacA\p35UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc.PU leads to a significantly increased mitotic index (phospho-H3 immunofluorescence) in the ptc-expressing domain within the third instar larval wing disc, as compared to controls.
