N1/+ flies display wing margin defects in the distal region.
N1 heterozygous adult females frequently display nicks in the wing margin.
N1 homozygous lateral antennal lobe neuroblast clones, induced at the newly-hatched larval stage, produce double the number of uniglomerular lateral antennal lobe projection neurons at 24-48 hours after larval hatching and 4 times the number at 48-72 hours after larval hatching, with no acceleration of cell proliferation (EdU incorporation) compared to control clones.
N1/+ wings have small notches at the wing margin.
Mutant males (derived from heterozygous females) do not survive to adulthood. Heterozygous females are viable but have notched wings.
N1/+ adult females show wing defects that include thickening of the longitudinal vein 5.
Homozygous clones induced in the eye and thoracic imaginal discs show epidermal development indistinguishable from wild-type.
Intermediate embryonic neurogenic phenotype.

The wing margin notching phenotype observed in some N1 heterozygous females is exacerbated by combination with single copy of any of the following alleles: Kap-α3D93, Kap-α3D165 or Kap-α3S033513.
One copy of N1 enhances the small eye phenotype seen when Caf1-105NIG.12892R is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH.
One copy of N1 enhances the wing phenotypes seen when Caf1-105NIG.12892R is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4sd.PU. The entire wing margin fails to develop in these flies. Longitudinal veins 3 and 5 are much more thickened than those of N1/+ flies.
One copy of Caf1-10536 enhances the penetrance of the notched wing phenotype seen in N1 mutant flies.
The wing vein phenotype resulting from the expression of uifasterisk.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4A9 is enhanced by N1/+.
The male lethality caused by N1 is partially rescued by dgrnEY09862/+.
dgrnDK/+ does not suppress the wing notching phenotype of N1/+ females.
N1/+ females ectopically expressing Hsap\ATXN1LScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4hh.PU rarely survive to adult stage (less than 10%) and the survivors display severe wing defects including a further thickening of the vein L5 compared to N1/+ controls.
