Expression of hamUAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4wor.PA (in combination with Scer\GAL80ase.PN to restrict the expression to type II neuroblasts) leads to premature differentiation of type II neuroblasts in larval brains.

Expression of hamScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4pnt-14-94 (limited to a 24 hour period using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) results in type II neuroblasts with a reduced diameter. A number of cells begin upregulating ase and downregulating the Scer\GAL4 driver, indicating a loss of type II neuroblast identity.

Expression of hamScer\UAS.cMa in type I neuroblasts under the control of Scer\GAL4ase.neuro (limited to a 48 hour period using Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) results in 80% neuroblast loss, and the remaining neuroblasts have fewer progeny, are smaller and often show nuclear pros expression.

Expressing hamUAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-109-68 results in disrupted notal microchaeta, with either a tormogen (socket) cell partially converted into an ectopic hair-like structure or two complete trichogen (hair) cells and no tormogen cell.

Expression of hamScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4neur-GAL4-A101 results in a "balding" of the adult notum.

Expression of hamScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-109-68 in all cells of the external sensory organ lineage leads to the loss of both the external cell branch-derived trichogen and tormogen. Expression of hamScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4neur-GAL4-A101 in clones in the notum results in the loss of external cells in almost 100% of external sensory organs in the clone.

Expression of hamScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4pros.PMG results in transformation of multidendritic neurons to external sensory neurons. When hamScer\UAS.cMa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu or Scer\GAL4109(2)80 the branching morphology of the arbors of the multidendritic neurons is substantially reduced, but not eliminated.

Expression of hamScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4neur-GAL4-A101 suppresses the gain of socket cells on the adult cuticle that is seen in seqU5 clones.

Expression of both svScer\UAS.cKa and hamScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4neur-GAL4-A101 in clones in the notum results in the loss of external cells in almost 100% of external sensory organs in the clone.
