Defined by an 89 residue extension of the C-terminal domain due to a frameshift mutation.

Deletion causing frameshift at residue 748 causing deletion of the carboxy terminal 57 amino acids.

Deletion of genomic sequences 3347-3362, only the first 748 amino acids are present followed by 89 new amino acids.

Mutation in the putative regulatory domain. Class II fu allele, affects the carboxy domain of the protein by changing the open reading frame in the 5' region.

Hsap\fuScer\UAS.Δ77-98; Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 does not significantly suppress fusion of wing veins L3 and L4 seen in fuRX2 hemizygotes, but often leads to a small overgrowth of the costa.

fuRX2; Su(fu)LP/+ flies have a lethal cos-like phenotype. fuRX2 saufP4; Su(fu)LP/+ flies are viable with a fu phenotype.

When in combination with Su(fu)LP or cos3 heterozygotes individuals die as pupae. Adult escapers display wings, halteres and legs that have duplication of structures in the anterior compartment and shortening along the proximal-distal axis. Embryos derived from heterozygotes with Su(fu) mutants display a segment polarity phenotype: thoracic denticle belts are absent, last two rows of abdominal denticle belts are absent and a mirror image duplication of anterior rows of abdominal denticle belts.
