Detailed Description

When spiScer\UAS.cSa is driven by Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 or Scer\GAL4Dll-md23 no detectable effect on bracts is seen.

spiScer\UAS.cSa, when driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF produces eyes that are indistinguishable from wild-type.

Expression of spiScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PB does not result in homeotic transformation of the eye to antenna.

Expression of spiScer\UAS.cSa using Scer\GAL4ap-md544 does not produce a wing phenotype.

Causes partially penetrant embryonic lethality when driven by Scer\GAL4Kr.PM, though the cuticular morphology of the embryos is unaffected. When driven by Scer\GAL469B, spiScer\UAS.cSa can rescue the ventral Fas3 expression defect of spi3.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Cardiac-specific expression of spiScer\UAS.cSa driven by Scer\GAL4tin.CΔ4 fails to suppress the abnormal cardiac phenotype observed in Df(3L)ED4238/+ mutants.

When Scer\GAL4GMR.PF drives expression of both SScer\UAS.cGa and spiScer\UAS.cSa, the eye phenotype of SScer\UAS.cGa is strongly enhanced leading to smooth eyes with little or no red pugment and few mechanosensory bristles.

Coexpression of both SScer\UAS.cGa and spiScer\UAS.cSa using Scer\GAL4ap-md544 results in ectopic proliferation of cells in the wing pouch of the wing disc and gives rise to wings which have blisters due to misapposition of the dorsal and ventral surfaces and which have missing and extra vein material.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The wings of Pstu\aarAScer\UAS.cGa; Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096; spiScer\UAS.cSa flies are very small, blistered, and covered in vein-like tissue.

Complementation and Rescue Data
Comments

Loss of midline glial cells in spi3 homozygous embryos is rescued by spiScer\UAS.cSa driven with (in neurons) with Scer\GAL4elav.PLu, but not (in glial cells) with Scer\GAL4sim.PS.

Animals heterozygous for spiSCP2 and spi1, spi2 or spi3 which have been rescued by spiScer\UAS.cSa with Scer\GAL4hs.PB to the third instar stage show relatively normal ommatidial development at the posterior of the eye imaginal disc. More anterior columns of ommatidia have reduced photoreceptors. In the lamina, retinal projections appeared normal but LPCs show no neuronal differentiation. This phenotype is rescued by the introduction of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF or in clones induced to produce Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PP.
