Expression of scScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-109-68 results in ectopic scutellar bristles.

Expression of scScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4kni.L2 results in L2 wing veins which are covered in ectopic bristles. In addition, ectopic bristles form sporadically in a broad posterior domain of the wing.

scScer\UAS.cCa; Scer\GAL4sca-109-68 flies have extra scutellar bristles.

Expression of scScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 slightly induces the formation of multiple dendritic neurons in embryos. Few ectopic chordotonal neurons are induced in these embryos. Expression of scScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PB using a 5 minute heat shock just after puparium formation results in ectopic bristles in the wing.

Flies expressing scScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4109 have extra bristles in defined areas of the cuticle. The phenotype is strongest on the scutellum (where extra macrochaetae and microchaetae are formed) and the third wing vein, and to a lesser degree on the notum. The phenotype increases with temperature. No ectopic chordotonal organs are formed. Extra sensory organ precursors are seen in the wing discs of flies expressing scScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4109. Flies expressing scScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 are not viable and die as pharate adults with deformed wings and appendages. Ectopic sensory organ precursors are seen in the wing discs of these animals.

Produces an abundance of ectopic single bristles that are evenly distributed over the wing, when expressed using Scer\GAL4hs.PB. Ectopic chordotonal organs in the wing are not produced in these flies.

Co-expression of smt3Scer\UAS.P\T.T:Zzzz\FLAG.T:Zzzz\His6 enhances the formation of ectopic scutellar bristles caused by expression of scScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-109-68.

Expression of scScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4Eq1 restores external sensory organ formation in the notum of Df(1)sc10-1 flies.

Expression of scScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL47 in ato1 flies rescues a small number of ommatidia. The eyes contain numerous interommatidial bristles in these flies.

The expression of scScer\UAS.cCa when driven by Scer\GAL47 in ato1 flies does result in partial restoration of the compound eye. Ommatidia contain only 2-5 photoreceptors, usually lacking the centrally located R8 photoreceptors with small rhabdomeres. Occasionally bristles that resemble macrochaetae are seen in various positions in the eye.
