Overexpression of neurScer\UAS.cPa in the mushroom bodies (under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.247 or Scer\GAL4c747) does not affect the response to conditioned or unconditioned stimuli, nor the gross morphology of the mushroom bodies. Ninety-minute memory is the same in overexpression and wild-type flies. In contrast, memory assessed 260 minutes later is significantly higher in neurScer\UAS.cPa-expressing flies. In addition, elevation of neur in the mushroom bodies results in higher 24-hour memory assessed after conditioning with a single cycle of 12 conditioned-stimuli/unconditioned stimuli pairings.

Expression of neurScer\UAS.cPa in the γ-lobes under the control of Scer\GAL4H24 does not affect memory formation.

Neither 260-minute nor 24-hour memory is affected in flies expressing neurScer\UAS.cPa in agr;/β-lobe neurons.

Restricting expression of neurScer\UAS.cPa to the adult α and β mushroom body lobes, through Scer\GAL4c747 and Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B does not affect the ability of neurScer\UAS.cPa overexpression to enhance 24 hour memory.

Flies overexpressing neurScer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL4c747 display enhanced 24-hour memory when kept at 29[o]C either for the entire period or specifically for the first 3 hours after training. Cold-shock, by training the animals with a single conditioned stimuli/unconditioned stimuli cycle, and then a 10 minute cold shock 2 hours after training, collapses the enhanced 260-minute memory of neurScer\UAS.cPa-overexpressing flies. The enhanced 24 hour memory in neurScer\UAS.cPa-overexpressing flies is eliminated by the protein synthesis inhibitor cycloheximide.
