Overexpression of neurScer\UAS.cPa in the mushroom bodies (under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.247 or Scer\GAL4c747) does not affect the response to conditioned or unconditioned stimuli, nor the gross morphology of the mushroom bodies. Ninety-minute memory is the same in overexpression and wild-type flies. In contrast, memory assessed 260 minutes later is significantly higher in neurScer\UAS.cPa-expressing flies. In addition, elevation of neur in the mushroom bodies results in higher 24-hour memory assessed after conditioning with a single cycle of 12 conditioned-stimuli/unconditioned stimuli pairings.
Expression of neurScer\UAS.cPa in the γ-lobes under the control of Scer\GAL4H24 does not affect memory formation.
