Expression of Krns.Scer\UAS.cRa in the midgut, under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 results in the generation of many new midgut cells, including enterocyte-like cells.

Expression of Krns.Scer\UAS.cRa in mature enterocytes, under the control of Scer\GAL4Myo31DF-NP0001 and Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B results in the generation of many new midgut cells, including enterocyte-like cells.

Induction of Krns.Scer\UAS.cRa by Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 results in extensive overproliferation of adult midgut progenitor cells, while limiting their dispersal, thus reducing the number of AMP clusters in wandering third instar larval midguts.

Rare Krns.Scer\UAS.cRa; Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 adults have short bloated stumps for wings. Krns.Scer\UAS.cRa; Scer\GAL455B flies lay eggs with ectopic dorsal appendages. The cuticles of Krns.Scer\UAS.cRa; Scer\GAL469B embryos have denticle belts which are wider, extend more dorsally and are more square edged than wild-type. These cuticles lack head structures, and have a phenotype indicative of defective germ-band retraction.

A Stat92EdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa or domedsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa background does not affect the stimulatory effect of Krns.Scer\UAS.cRa expression (under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 and Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B) on intestinal stem cell proliferation.
