Octβ2Rf05679 females lay significantly fewer eggs (all of which fail to develop as they are unfertilized and have only one nucleus) than wild type. Octβ2Rf05679 flies have similar but delayed copulation rates, compared to wild type. Ovaries in Octβ2Rf05679 females (both young and old) are significantly larger than in controls and contain more eggs in a row (up to 5, rather than the 2 seen in controls).

The number of natural synaptopods (motile filopodia-like extensions) at type II neuromuscular junctions is significantly decreased in mutant third instar larvae compared to wild type. The number of type II boutons at the neuromuscular junction is also decreased in these larvae.

Type II neuromuscular junctions in mutant third instar larvae show an increase in the number of natural synaptopods in response to forskolin, as occurs in wild-type controls.

The number of natural synaptopods is significantly decreased in Octβ2Rf05679 mutants. Accordingly, Octβ2Rf05679 mutants do not show increased numbers of synaptopods in response to octopamine.

Octβ2Rf05679 mutants show a reduction in evoked EJP amplitude compared to controls.

Octβ2Rf05679 mutants do not display increased locomotor speed in response to starvation.

Octβ2Rf05679 mutants exhibit a reduction in the number of type I boutons.

Octβ2Rf05679 mutants do not exhibit a disruption to nighttime sleep but do exhibit a significant decrease in daytime sleep, resulting in an overall reduction in sleep.

The ability of TrpA1Scer\UAS.(B).cKa expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Tdc2.PC at 31[o]C contingent with odour presentation to induce appetitive olfactory memory is impaired in a Octβ2Rf05679/+ background if the flies are satiated but not if the flies are hungry.

The number of natural synaptopods (motile filopodia-like extensions) and type II boutons at the type II neuromuscular junction in Octβ2Rf05679 oa21 double mutants is significantly higher than that seen in Octβ2Rf05679 single mutants and is similar to the number in wild-type controls.
