The expression of Atg9GD2029 under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 does not affect the curvature of the wing.

Flies expressing Atg9GD2029 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PU display progressive heart defects: thicker heart walls and a distorted lumen with a rough surface in older flies, increased systolic dimension throughout adult life, but no change in diastolic dimension and fractional shortening. Mitochondria in cardiomyocytes are abnormally elongated and narrowed, the mitochondrial network appears fused/enlarged and the mitochondrial volume density is significantly increased in 40-day old flies. Alongside, indirect flight muscles display fragmented mitochondria and reduced mitochondrial volume density. Neither males nor females display climbing defects.

Expression of Atg9GD2029 under the control of either Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 of Scer\GAL4Myo31DF-NP0001 results in impaired intestinal stem cell proliferation in response to paraquat.

Flies expressing Atg9GD2029 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU show no defects in ommatidial structure.

Adults expressing Atg9GD2029 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Expression of Atg9GD2029 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU suppresses the resistance to paraquat seen in pucB48/+ mutant flies. Mortality rates are increased compared to controls.

Expression of Atg9GD2029 suppresses the increase in cell death (cleaved caspase-3 levels) observed in response to paraquat when Atg12dsRNA.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PU.

Xenogenetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Co-expression of Atg9GD2029 partially suppresses the decreased muscle area, but not the increased apoptosis seen in flies expressing Zzzz\CTGi480.Scer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PU in response to heat shock.
