Expression of picoIR.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4tub is semilethal, and survivors are small compared to sibling controls.

Expression of picoIR.Scer\UAS in the wing under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in a significant reduction in wing area. Fewer and smaller wing cells are seen, and wing hair density is significantly increased relative to wildtype. The dorsal wing blade is reduced in size, and wings are slightly curled upwards.

Expression of picoIR.Scer\UAS in the posterior compartment of the wing disc under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in a specific reduction in the area of the posterior wing compartment. Cells progress through the cell cycle normally, but are smaller in size than controls.

Somatic homozygous picoIR.Scer\UAS mutant clones (driven by Scer\GAL4Act5C) contain significantly fewer cells than control clones, and therefore contains cells that divide at a slower rate.

Expressing picoIR.Scer\UAS in a stripe of cells in the wing using Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 results in a reduction in the number of cells and a narrower stripe.

Co-expression of picoIR.Scer\UAS suppresses the wing overgrowth seen when EgfrScer\UAS.cBa is expressed in the wing using Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096.

The wing notching that results from expressing Ras85DV12.Scer\UAS along the wing margin using Scer\GAL4vg.PU is partially suppressed by co-expression of picoIR.Scer\UAS.

Comments

Over expression of picoScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\His6,T:Hsap\MYC and picoIR.Scer\UAS simultaneously in the wing by Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in normal wing formation, and the phenotypic effects of each alone are nullified.
