Expression of maheScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU results in a massive reduction in adult eye size in both male and female flies. The larval eye-antennal discs are also significantly smaller than those of controls.

Expression of maheScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc.PU results in an enormous decrease in the size of the salivary gland with 100% penetrance. The salivary gland nuclei are much smaller than in controls. Notching is seen at the wing margin, the distance between the L3 and L4 veins is reduced and there is loss of sensory bristles in the scutellum. Suppression of apoptosis does not suppress this loss of bristles.

Expression of maheScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4bbg-C96 has no visible effect on the wing margin.

Expression of maheScer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4ap.PU results in blistered and notched wings.
