Drives expression in mushroom body, and in central brain neuropils.

ScerGAL430Y drives expression in the mushroom body, scattered expression int he optic lobe and subesophageal ganglion. Expression is also detected in the labellar glands, in both neuronal and non-neuronal cells, and in a subset of sensory neurons of the prothoracic male tarsus.

Adult expression is observed primarily in the mushroom bodies, subesophageal ganglion, antennal lobes, optic lobes, and lateral protocerebrum, but not in the chemosensory organs.

Adult expression is observed in a subset of the antennal glomeruli, in the lobes of mushroom body, in some ring neurons of the ellipsoid body, large field neurons of the fan-shaped body, and lateral fibers of the median bundle. Representative images can be seen Figure 4 of FBrf0127414.

Expression of ScerGAL430Y is extensive throughout the adult central brain neuropil. Expression is relatively extensive within the early and late pupal alpha-lobe, but is restricted in the mid-pupal stage. Expression of ScerGAL430Y is lost at pupal stage 6, but is observed again at pupal stage 7.

Larval expression is observed four Kenyon cells clusters, and in the calyx. In the second and third larval instars, expression is also seen in the pedunculus, in the β and γ' lobes of the mushroom body, and in the circumference of the α and α' lobes.

Inhibition of neural activity in Scer\GAL430Y-expressing neurons does not affect sensitivity to (S,Z,Z)-CH503 (a more potent stereoisomer of the gustatory sex pheromone CH503). As in wild type flies, courtship defects are seen in response to (S,Z,Z)-CH503.
