The vn1 mutants have gaps in the longitudinal veins of the adult wing.

vnL6/vn1 mutant wings show loss of part of longitudinal vein 4 and the anterior crossvein. Very few flies show loss of longitudinal vein 3.

vn1/vnC221 animals lack the L4 wing vein.

vn1/vnddd-3 flies show loss of wing vein L4.

vn1 homozygotes show a truncation of wing vein L4, with partial penetrance at the proximal part of wing vein L3.

In the wing, the anterior crossvein and parts of wing vein L4 are deleted.

vnC221/vn1 transheterozygotes are viable and display deletions of the anterior crossvein and a portion of wing vein L4 proximal to the posterior crossvein.

vn1 rhove-1 double homozygotes lack all longitudinal wing veins. Vein tissue differentiates in vn1 rhove-1 double homozygotes when dppScer\UAS.cSa is expressed in these flies using Scer\GAL4C-580.

Homozygotes exhibit interruption of wing vein 4 (usually in the central portion) and the anterior crossvein is absent.

Loss of vein mutation. Suppression of rhohs.PSt ectopic vein phenotype and enhancement of the rhove-1 loss of vein phenotype.

Missing short stretches of both longitudinal and crossveins. Heteroallelic combinations cause smaller wings, in addition to gaps in wing veins.

LIV vein gaps and anterior crossveins appear in vn1 homozygotes.

A large section of wing vein L4 and the anterior crossvein is missing. The posterior crossvein is often incomplete, and there is sometimes a gap at the base of vein L3.

Large section of vein L4 and anterior crossvein missing. Posterior crossvein often incomplete; gap sometimes present in L3. male-sterile female-fertile.

rhove-1,vn1 double mutants almost completely lack veins in the adult wing. This phenotype was not changed by in rhove-1,vn1,CycGHR7 triple mutants.

The loss of vein material in vn1 is mildly suppressed in vn1,CycGHR7 double mutants.

Krn27/Krn9 enhances the wing vein phenotypes seen in vnL6/vn1 mutants. A greater proportion of flies show longitudinal vein 3 loss than in vnL6/vn1 alone. The phenotype is further enhanced by one copy of spi1.

One copy of spi1 does not enhance the vein phenotypes seen in vnL6/vn1 mutant wings.

vn1/+ or vn10567/vn1 suppresses the intestinal stem cell hyperproliferation seen in rk1/rk1 mutant midguts.

rhove-1, vn1 double mutant wings retain wild-type hair polarity and ridge orientation.

Wings of homozygous pk30, rhove-1 and vn1 triple mutant flies lack veins L2-5. Wing anterior hairs of these mutants consistently have a posterior component to their polarity and posterior hairs have an anterior component to their polarity.

The loss of wing vein L4 which is seen in vn1/vnC221 animals is rescued by Bap170hfl1/+ in 90% of cases.

The wings of rhove-1 vn1 double mutants examined at 19, 21 or 24 hours after pupariation (AP) lack most longitudinal veins, with only the most proximal vein tissue intact 19 and 21 hours AP.

rhove-1 vn1 double homozygotes lack wing veins. This phenotype is partially suppressed by ash2S112411 /ash2S112411. The degree of suppression varies from development of L2 only to almost complete rescue, albeit with some abnormalities such as extra crossvein material or proximal fusions between L2 and L3 or L4 and L5. In 25% of cases, hollow, tube like wings are formed, probably due to detachment of dorsal and ventral layers.

The addition of bwkΔ11 and vn1 fails to enhance the extra wing vein phenotype seen in cicD49/bwkΔ11 animals.

The vn1/vnddd-3 loss of wing vein L4 phenotype is suppressed by emc1/emc11. emcD enhances the loss of wing veins seen in vn1/vnddd-3 flies. emc1 clones in rhove-1 vn1 wings differentiate as veins in positions possibly corresponding to those of wild-type veins. Vein differentiation in these clones frequently fails in distal regions of veins.

In vn1 homozygotes, there is no exacerbation of the loss of vein phenotype within homozygous spi1 clones in the wing.

vn1 rhove-1 flies completely lack wing veins.

rho9, vnM2/rhove-1, vn1 double mutants lack wing veins. bs03267/bs2; rho9, vnM2/rhove-1, vn1 triple mutants show an almost wild type wing vein pattern.

rhove-1 vn1 double mutant flies lack all the longitudinal veins and crossveins of the wing blade. Dorsal and ventral implants of rhove-1 vn1 imaginal disc tissue into wild-type imaginal discs fail to differentiate veins.

vn1 rhove-1 flies lack wing veins.
