Expression of NPFKK111846 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu, Scer\GAL4NP0021 or Scer\GAL4NPF.1 in males significantly increases courtship towards males, compared to controls; male-male courtship is also increased when expression is restricted to a smaller subset of Scer\GAL4NPF.1 cells using Scer\GAL80αTub84B.PG and Scer\FLP1fru, but not Scer\GAL80FRT.αTub84B and Scer\FLP1fru.

The expression of NPFKK111846 under the control of Scer\GAL4386Y, Scer\GAL4NPF.1, Scer\GAL4Or22a.7.717 or Scer\GAL4Orco.PK leads to a significant decrease in the frequency of odor-evoked electrophysiological spikes (in response to ethyl butyrate) by adult ab3A neurons, as compared to controls; the Scer\GAL4NPF.1-driven expression does significantly affect the spontaneous electrophysiological activity of ab3A neurons, nor the ethyl butyrate-evoked electrophysiological activity of adult ab2A and ab1A/B neurons, as compared to controls.

Expression of NPFKK111846 under the control of Scer\GAL4nSyb.PU (in combination with UAS-Dicer2 to increase RNAi efficiency) results in a significant increase in the latency to sperm ejection in females after the end of copulation.

Flies expressing NPFKK111846 either pan-neuronally under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU or in peptidergic neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4dimm-929 do not show any change in sensitivity to (S,Z,Z)-CH503 (a more potent stereoisomer of the gustatory sex pheromone CH503). As in wild type flies, courtship defects are seen in response to (S,Z,Z)-CH503.

Knockdown of npf through expression of npfKK111846 under the control of Scer\GAL4tim.Scer\UAS does not affect LD behaviour.

Co-expression of NPFKK111846 reduces the decreases in sleep amount seen in Scer\GAL4NPF.1>TrpA1Scer\UAS.cUa flies at 29[o]C compared to controls; total sleep in flies with knockdown is still less than that seen in controls.

In LD 12:12 , the evening activity peak of npfKK111846/PdfGD299 knockdown flies (under the control of Scer\GAL4tim.Scer\UAS) is different from PdfGD299-knockdown flies: it appears broader and flatter.
