CycEAR95 produces tiny or no transient follicle cell clones 5 days after clone induction and no follicle stem cell clones 12 days after clone induction.

In CycEAR95 mutants, both NB6-4t daughter cells differentiate as glial cells as opposed to one glial cell and one neuronal precursor as in wild-type. The NB6-4t lineage is transformed to NB6-4a in approximately 65% of thoracic hemisegments. The NB6-4a lineage is not affected in CycEAR95 mutants.

37.7% of egg chambers in CycEJP/CycEAR95 flies raised at 18oC, have half the normal number of germ-line cells.

CycEAR95/CycEJP animals have small, rough eyes.

CycEAR95 mutant embryos show a size reduction of the large intestine region.

CycEJP/CycEAR95 flies have more severe eye defects than CycEJP homozygotes.

S phase is widely induced in the internal tissues that endocycle in wild-type embryos in CycEAR95 embryos carrying two copies of CycAhs.PK, within 1 hour of heat shock. Induction of S phase is also seen in epidermal cells, although not until 180 minutes after heat shock.

Heterozygotes exhibit normal eyes.

Homozygotes exhibit wild type eyes.

After embryonic mitosis 16, cell cycle progression is clearly arrested. BrdU incorporation experiments show that endoreplicative as well as mitotic S phases are arrested.

wor4/+, CycEAR95/+, Df(3R)Exel6186/+, Df(3R)Exel6212/+ quadruple heterozygous stage 17 embryos show defects in neuroblast in lineage progression, as illustrated by the frequent loss of the last-born cell in the NB5-6T lineage, as compared to controls.

The wing nicking phenotype caused by expression of Rbf280.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4bbg-C96 is enhanced if the flies are also carrying CycEAR95.

Heterozygosity for either CycE5 or CycEAR95 suppresses the small bristle phenotype of mi1/miΔEY22 flies.
